What is ReportWriter ?

ReportWriter is a complete report authoring and production tool. It allows the user to create complex reports by pointing and clicking the mouse. ReportWriter is a fully 32-bit program. This enables it to fully exploit the power of Windows95, 98 and Windows NT.

The user has complete control over the column order, sorting, filtering and formatting of the data in the report. All user choices are immediately displayed on screen in WYSIWYG format. ( What you see is what you get ). A full print preview is available to check report layouts before printing.

Reports can be displayed on the screen, printed to any Windows printer ( in colour if supported by the device ), written to delimited, or fixed format files, or even directly exported to Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents. The ReportWriter also supports data exporting to any ODBC compliant data source. ODBC is an open standard for database connectivity. It is supported by almost all the leading database vendors. This allows ReportWriter to export data to a wide range of products, including Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and Oracle.

Multiple reports can be 'batched' together, allowing a set of reports to be produced in one simple operation. Relative and absolute date formats are supported. This allows batches to be setup once and run many times using relative dates, dynamically changing the dates each time the report is run.

The user can design their own report menu structure, allowing reports to be ordered and grouped in the most efficient way for each user. Reports created by a user can be made 'Global' or kept 'Private'. Global reports will be available for any user to run, where as private reports will only be available to the user that created them.

As well as adding columns of data that are available directly, the ReportWriter allows users to create new calculated columns of information. Calculated columns are created via a 3 step 'wizard', allowing even novice users to create powerful results, easily.

In conclusion, BITON ReportWriter brings powerful report authoring and production to the Windows desktop giving users almost limitless options for formatting and output.
